Examples of thread forming screw applications
Using thread forming screws can dramatically reduce the total costs of a fastening connection. They can replace nuts, threaded parts or the thread cutting process. This does not only reduce the number of parts to be purchased but also the assembly time and the number of parts to be handled.
In addition to the cost saving aspect of thread forming screws, the quality of the fastening connection increases. The self-formed thread in the material to be mounted onto, fits tightly with the thread-flanks of the screw. This helps to prevent self-loosening of the screw even under dynamic vibrations. Once tightened the thread forming screw withstands higher pull-out-strength (compared to precut threads) due to the deeper overlapping of the thread flanks.
Betzer has developed and patented suitable thread profiles especially for metal and plastic materials:
For metal connections:
betzer pentaform: Thread forming screws for steel and sheet metal
betzer pentaflow: Hole and thread forming screws for thin sheet metal
betzer rs-metric: Thread forming screws for light metal
For plastic connections:
betzer rs-plast: Thread forming screws for theormoplastic material
betzer rs-universal: Thread forming screws for theormoplastics, reinforced plastics and compound material
